A Message from Andrea Pfeifer, Chair of the Global BHP BrainTrust
Davos 2025- Where is brain health headed?
In January, global attention turned to Davos 2025, where AI advancements and the Trump inauguration dominated headlines. Yet, brain health quietly emerged as a key topic, following last year’s announcement of a $1 trillion opportunity in the field. The Brain Health House, organized by the Davos Alzheimer’s Collaborative (DAC), became a hub for discussions on brain capital—the idea that cognitive skills and well-being are crucial for economic growth. Experts emphasized the need for organizations to invest in employee brain health to build a skilled, healthy, and productive workforce.
Since we spend a third of our lives at work, proactive measures—from childhood through aging—are essential to reducing healthcare costs. A holistic approach, including prevention, medication, and lifestyle changes, is key to maintaining brain health. For women, this issue is especially urgent, as they make up more than 60% of patients and caregivers in brain health-related conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. Inspired by the conversations at Davos, the Global BHP BrainTrust remains dedicated to advancing awareness of women’s brain health and driving preventive strategies to support patients and build a healthier, more resilient workforce.
