WELCOME: GLOBAL BHP BRAINTRUST
A Message from Andrea Pfeifer, Chair of the Global BHP BrainTrust
As we approach the end of year, 2023 has once again proven that Brain Health is not just a personal choice but a critical necessity for the well-being of individuals and society. The substantial progress made this year in the Alzheimer’s and Brain Health spectrum underscores the significance of our collective dedication and contribution. It is worth a moment of reflection and appreciation.
Scientific power has brought the first breakthrough Alzheimer’s treatments, Lecanemab and Donanemab, to the market. The US Brain Health Initiative led by Jill Biden became a governmental head start for critical women’s health investments, and the vision of a preventive Alzheimer’s vaccine has gained more societal attention as an alternative visionary step to prevention.
In 2023, our family of BrainTrust members expanded to include these distinguished women: Dame Fiona Kendricks, Christiane Kuehne, Professor Miia Kivipelto, Constanze Egger, Carolee Lee, Lily Johnson White, and Corine Blesi. We also celebrate Princess Tatiana of Greece and Denmark and the success of her BREATHE campaign designed to destigmatize mental health. We sincerely thank those new and existing members, dialogue experts, and collaborators for their invaluable contributions.
In 2024, our progress will build on its momentum and message of hope. This upcoming spring, we are delighted to explore the latest neuroarts research on Music and the Mind with international music star Renée Fleming, a WHO Global Health Ambassador. Upcoming dialogues will focus on the potential applications of Artificial Intelligence from accelerated clinical trials to digital biomarkers or machine learning for early diagnosis of dementia. Our engagement, dedication, and commitment for the upcoming year are steadfast.
As the holiday season approaches, we want to extend warm wishes to each of you.
Here’s to a season filled with joy, connection, and the shared excitement of what’s next to come.
