WELCOME: GLOBAL BHP BRAINTRUST
A Message from Andrea Pfeifer, Chair of the Global BHP BrainTrust

September is World Alzheimer’s Month- let’s unite and raise awareness!

September unites people around the world for one common vital cause: raising awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. This year’s theme is centered around the pivotal role of identifying risk factors and taking proactive measures to delay the onset of dementia. The campaign’s motto “Never too early, never too late” resonates with the Global BBP BrainTrust’s mission.

Scientists have demonstrated that maintaining brain health is a lifelong endeavor and can be accomplished by adapting your lifestyle and keeping your brain fit. Emphasizing the significance of early intervention, “Never too early” underscores the importance of addressing Alzheimer’s in its earliest stages. In this context, it is not only highly recommended but also empowering to know more about the risks, and preventive strategies to create your very own Alzheimer’s prevention plan. In her New York Times bestseller book “The XX Brain“, Lisa Mosconi, Director of the Women’s Brain Initiative at Weill Cornell Medical College gives women an action plan to address these unique risks and strengths of the female brain.

But there’s also hope that it’s “never too late”. Dr. Rebecca Chopp, a distinguished guest in our May Dialogue showcased the transformative impact of meaningful actions for women post-diagnosis. Her story exemplifies the potential for improving your own quality of life, even after facing a diagnosis.

In this regard, the Global BBP BrainTrust celebrates World Alzheimer’s Month and our shared efforts continue to illuminate the path forward.
