 WELCOME: GLOBAL BHP BRAINTRUST
A Message from Andrea Pfeifer, Chair of the Global BHP BrainTrust

It’s very likely that we all know someone whose life has been touched by dementia, a family member, friend, or neighbor. The latest report from Alzheimer Europe, “The Prevalence of Dementia in Europe 2025,” highlights how much this challenge will grow in the coming decades worldwide. We need to act!

In 2025, an estimated 12.12 million were living across Europe with dementia rising to 19.91 million in 2050. This growth reflects not only our aging population but also the pressing need for stronger health, social, and caregiving systems to support those affected.

Alzheimer Europe emphasizes that EU and national decision-makers must act now: ensuring accessible, high-quality care, strengthening social support for families and caregivers, and investing heavily in research to improve diagnosis, treatment and in prevention, which is the only measure to interrupt this devastating trend and its crippling economic consequences.

Prevention is essential to reducing the impact on health systems, social systems, personal and family burdens, and reversing the current global alarming trends associated with Alzheimer`s. It embraces lifestyle changes, advances in neuroaesthetics, early diagnostic and treatment with effective and safe pharmacological interventions. Coordinated global action today is essential in Europe and in the world for the growing dementia challenge.

The Global BHP Trust is using its network of influential women to catalyze actions focusing on prevention and collaborating with organizations with innovative and meaningful approaches to women’s brain health capital.
