This July, brain health took center stage in London, where more than 13,000 researchers and advocates from 111 countries gathered for the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) 2026. Among the headline findings: family doctors who reviewed blood test results diagnosed Alzheimer’s correctly 93% of the time, compared with 94% accuracy among specialists and just 65% without the test (AAIC, 2026). A separate study found that those with the highest levels of biomarker p-tau217 faced an estimated 78% risk of cognitive impairment within ten years (AAIC, 2026).

That progress means little if it doesn’t reach everyone, especially women, who make up nearly two-thirds of Alzheimer’s diagnoses and shoulder most of the world’s unpaid caregiving, yet remain underrepresented in the evidence base. I was honored to speak at the Advancing Women’s Brain Health dinner hosted by UsAgainstAlzheimer’s, where I shared why the Global BHP BrainTrust is entering a new chapter: closing the gap between fast-moving science and the policy, funding, and care systems meant to deliver its benefits to women.

This October at Lausanne XIII, we will convene a high-level international working group to help move women’s brain health higher on the global research and policy agenda. I am also excited about my new role with WHAM Ventures, where we are shaping an investment thesis to fund the next generation of breakthroughs in women’s health.
